Ethically Sourced Products

1. What does an ethically sourced diamond mean?

An ethically sourced diamond is one that has been sourced through supply chains that do not fund violence, forced labour, exploitation or environmental harm. Ethical sourcing focuses on responsible mining practices, transparent trading and strict supplier verification standards across the diamond journey.

2. How do you ensure diamonds are responsibly sourced?

We work only with established suppliers who follow recognised global sourcing and compliance standards. Supplier relationships are supported by formal declarations and trade verification processes. This helps ensure stones are sourced through legitimate channels aligned with responsible industry practices.

3. Are ethical standards followed for all stones or only diamonds?

Responsible sourcing principles extend across diamonds and coloured gemstones wherever possible. We prioritise working with partners who demonstrate traceability, responsible material handling and compliance with recognised trade regulations.

4. How do I know my diamond or gemstone is genuine?

For stones above certain size ranges, an independent gemological grading report (GIA or IGI for diamonds) is also provided. This gives third party verification of the stone’s measurable characteristics and helps ensure full transparency around what you are purchasing.

5. What does a diamond grading certificate actually tell me?

A diamond grading report is a professional evaluation carried out by an independent gemological laboratory. It records the diamond’s measurable quality characteristics, commonly known as the 4Cs. These include cut, colour, clarity and carat weight. The report may also include technical details such as symmetry, polish quality, fluorescence and proportion measurements. Certification allows buyers to compare diamonds objectively.

6. Do lab grown diamonds have identification markings?

Most lab grown diamonds carry microscopic identification inscriptions. These are not visible to the naked eye and can usually only be seen under magnification. In addition, trained gemologists can identify diamond origin using specialised equipment and laboratory testing methods.

7. Are lab grown diamonds considered real diamonds?

Yes. Lab grown diamonds are chemically, physically and visually identical to mined diamonds. The only difference is how they are formed. Natural diamonds form underground over millions of years, while lab grown diamonds are created in controlled environments that replicate natural formation conditions.

8. Do lab grown and natural diamonds hold value differently over time?

Diamonds are generally purchased for emotional and symbolic value rather than financial investment. Resale value can vary widely depending on market demand, size, rarity and grading characteristics. Most clients choose based on what they love visually and emotionally rather than future resale expectations.

9. Can I view jewellery pieces before making a purchase?

Selected designs may be available for private viewing by appointment in Singapore. This allows you to see the stone brilliance, craftsmanship finishing and scale of the piece in person. Availability may depend on production scheduling and stock status.

10. How is product quality checked before delivery?

Every piece goes through multiple quality checks before it is released. This includes material verification, stone security checks, finishing inspection and final structural review. Only pieces that meet internal quality standards are approved for delivery.

Customisation

1. Is it possible to create a fully customised engagement ring, wedding band, bracelet, earring or jewellery piece?

Yes. Our team specialises in both fully bespoke creations and tailored adaptations of existing designs. Some clients approach us with a clear design vision, while others begin with references or general inspiration. In both cases, we guide you through design practicality, stone selection, structural integrity, and long-term wear considerations to ensure the final piece is not only visually striking but engineered for everyday durability.

2. What types of customisation services are available?

We generally support three design pathways:

  • Full Bespoke Design
Creation of a piece from concept stage, including design development, stone matching, and structural engineering.
  • Design Refinement
Adjusting elements of an existing design such as proportions, stone size, setting height, or metal tone while maintaining the original design language.
  • Ready Piece Personalisation
Minor technical or aesthetic changes such as resizing, change of stone type, finish adjustments, or engraving where design structure allows.
Each request is reviewed individually to ensure technical feasibility and longevity of the jewellery.
3. What production timelines should I expect for customised jewellery?

Production time varies based on design complexity, stone sourcing requirements, and finishing techniques. Typical working timelines are 4-6 weeks.

Designs requiring rare stones, unusual cuts, or specialised detailing may require extended sourcing and production planning time.

4. Do you support priority or time-sensitive custom orders?

Where production capacity and material availability permit, we can evaluate accelerated production options. Feasibility depends on technical complexity, stone readiness, and workshop scheduling. Our team will always advise transparently if an expedited timeline risks compromising quality standards.

5. How does the custom jewellery journey typically work?
  • Design Consultation
We begin by understanding your aesthetic direction, lifestyle needs, and budget considerations. Reference images, sketches, or mood boards are helpful but not mandatory.
  • Design Visualisation
Concept sketches or digital renders are developed for review. Refinements are completed at this stage before materials are committed to production.
  • Crafting & Stone Setting
Once approved, the piece moves into casting, assembly, stone setting, and hand-finishing before undergoing final quality inspection.
6. Is a deposit required before production begins?

Yes. A production deposit is required prior to commencing fabrication, as materials and stones are secured specifically for your commissioned piece. The balance payment is completed before collection or delivery.

7. Are there charges for design development?

For technically complex projects involving advanced modelling, multiple design iterations, or prototype sampling, a design development charge may apply. Where applicable, this is typically offset against the final piece value if production proceeds.

8. Which metals are available for custom jewellery?

We primarily work with premium jewellery alloys including:

  • 14-18K White Gold
  • 14-18K Yellow Gold
  • 14-18K Rose Gold
  • Platinum

Our metal compositions are produced using high-purity base materials and manufactured in accordance with internationally recognised material safety standards.

9. Can I submit design references or inspiration images?

Yes. Visual references are extremely helpful in communicating design proportions, detailing, and setting styles. When possible, sharing multiple angles or similar design variations allows us to provide more accurate technical guidance and quotations.

10. Are customised pieces eligible for returns or exchanges?

As each customised piece is produced specifically to individual design specifications, returns or exchanges are generally not applicable unless a verified manufacturing defect is present. We conduct multiple design confirmations prior to production to minimise any risk of expectation mismatch.

11. Do you provide engraving services for customised jewellery?

Engraving can be incorporated into many designs depending on surface area, metal thickness, and structural placement. Our consultants will advise on suitable engraving formats during the design stage.

12. How do you maintain quality standards for custom jewellery?

Every commissioned piece passes through structured quality controls including material verification, stone security assessment, finishing inspection, and final wearability checks before release.

After Sales Service

1. Does Nara Fine Jewellery offer a warranty?

Yes. All Nara Fine Jewellery pieces are covered under a 1 year manufacturing warranty against defects in craftsmanship. If there is a defect, please send us an email or Whatsapp message with photos of the issue as soon as you detect it. If we determine that the issue is due to a manufacturing defect, we will repair or replace the item for you. If it is not caused by a manufacturing defect but by normal wear and tear, we will repair it with a fee. Kindly refer to our Warranty and Returns Policy section.

2. What is covered under the warranty?

The warranty applies to verified manufacturing issues such as faulty settings, structural defects, or issues that arise from workmanship at the time of creation.

3. What is not covered under the warranty?

Our warranty does not cover natural wear and tear, surface scratches, dents, tarnishing, accidental damage, improper handling, or any alterations or repairs carried out by third parties.

4. Do you offer repairs or servicing after purchase?

However we do provide cleaning, resizing, prong adjustments and other after-sales services. Service availability depends on the design, condition, and nature of the request. Please note there are fees applicable for each of these services and turnaround time will range from 5 - 10 days.

5. Is resizing or modification included?

Resizing or design modifications are not included as part of standard after-sales service. We provide a one-time free resizing for rings within 3 months from the purchase date. Subsequent re-sizing will incur a small fee. Certain designs such as pave rings and eternity rings cannot be resized. Please note that turnaround time may range from 2 - 10 weeks.

Sizing and Resizing

1. How should jewellery fit for daily comfort

Jewellery should feel secure without creating pressure or restriction. For rings, it should slide over the knuckle with slight resistance but sit comfortably once in place. For bracelets and bangles, there should be enough room for natural movement without excessive looseness.

2. What if my jewellery does not fit correctly after purchase

Resizing or adjustment options may be available depending on the design structure, metal type and stone setting. Some pieces allow minor size adjustments, while others may require remanufacturing due to technical construction.

3. Can all jewellery designs be resized

Not always. Certain designs such as full eternity settings, tension based structures or pieces with continuous stone placement may not allow standard resizing. In such cases, remaking the piece to a new size may be the safest option to maintain structural integrity.

4. Does engraving affect resizing options

In many cases, resizing can affect existing engraving because metal needs to be adjusted during the process. If resizing is required, engraving may need to be reapplied afterwards.

5. Is there a limit to how much a piece can be resized

Yes. Very large size adjustments may affect structural balance, stone security or overall design proportions. If major size changes are needed, remanufacturing may be recommended instead of altering the original piece.

6. When should I measure myself for the most accurate sizing

It is best to measure when your body temperature is normal and your hands or wrists are not swollen or cold. Late afternoon or evening is usually more reliable than early morning measurements.

7. Can you help if I am unsure about sizing before ordering

Yes. Our team can guide you through sizing methods, recommend the best approach based on the jewellery type and help reduce the risk of post purchase adjustments.
